LifeTools

LifeTools is an organization that exists to help relieve the discomfort of those experiencing hunger, pain and lack. Our mission issues the clarion call to those who are open to compassion and generosity.

“For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you visited me; I was in prison and you came to me...” Matthew 25:35-36 NKJV

LifeTools understands that the needs of people can seem overwhelming and unending. Yet, we look to the gospels for a comforting and compelling example of compassion and generosity at work. There was a large crowd following Jesus. He had healed the sick among them. As day continued the disciples sought to send the crowds away so they could find food for themselves in nearby villages, but Jesus’ response was “you feed them.” This is when we learn of The Power of One decision made by one kind-hearted little boy who engaged in one sweeping act of generosity rippled out to fed the masses. We believe when you have a heart for others, your hand will follow, causing a rippling effect reaching out to the masses.

The Pantry

The Pantry

The Pantry started in 2001 in a small room provided by a local church. Within a few years this outreach relocated to a local food pantry where eight families were served the first week. By the third week 55 families were being served. These formative years led to the establishing of the faith-based, non-profit organization called LifeTools Community Development Corporation.

The Pantry has grown rapidly over the years. We have partnered with the Atlanta Community Food Bank, obtained our own building located on Hwy 5 and are presently serving hundreds of families weekly.

We rely heavily upon churches, schools, civic organizations and others within our community who volunteer their time and give of their financial resources to support our mission to feed the hungry and share the love and compassion of Christ. Last year, along with nine other partnering agencies, we fed over 100,000 people. Truly, the need is great. Joining in this support system, your financial giving will keep our hand extended to reach out to others who are waiting for our help.

The CarePlace

As LifeTools worked diligently to meet the needs of the hungry, a common theme emerged. Due to changes within our culture and the rising cost of health care, people were having to choose between feeding their families and paying for health coverage. This dilemma shined a light on the need for a free medical clinic. By 2012 the ripple expanded as someone donated a medical building for a clinic, and Dr. James Lantz agreed to serve as the volunteer medical director.

On August 17, 2013, we opened The CarePlace, a free primary care clinic for uninsured qualifying residents of Douglas County. Since that date we have logged thousands of appointments, treating those with chronic conditions such as hypertension, COPD, diabetes, anxiety and depression. Currently doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses and office staff volunteer to serve our patients quality care Monday through Saturday.
